Artist Statement

I have always loved jazz music. Jazz's complexity and origin in Blackness have always interested me. Jazz is history. Jazz is culture. The storytelling that Jazz conveys inspired the collaged technique of this painting. The patchwork method felt like the essence of Jazz.
